Google Base - the next MLS?
presents...
According to Janis Mara of Inman News (inman.com), Real estate listings are now searchable via Google.com.
Google Base, a website where property listings and other information can be uploaded and displayed online for free, can now be searched via Google, giving rise to visions of the service as a possible "new MLS." It has always been possible to search Google Base itself, but consumers can now input phrases such as "Miami real estate" into Google's main search box and the results will show listings from the Google Base.
While countless web sites have enabled consumers to search MLS property listings online, Google Base, which launched in November of 2005, does not require the tedious personal information that the other sites do. Google Base works similarly to Craigslist by making it possible to quickly and easily create a free posting that will appear online and can be located by searching specific terms.
Although Google Base does not offer as many listings necessarily as an MLS enabled site could, it is definately another great stride for Google.com
